EVHS PTSA has been certified to grant Presidential Service Awards for eligible volunteer service by EVHS students, where eligible volunteer service is defined as “unpaid acts of service benefiting others.”

Awards are granted for eligible service within a 12-month period from August 1 – July 31. Per the Presidential Service Award program guidelines, volunteers must be U.S citizens or lawfully admitted permanent U.S residents.

Eligible volunteer service does not include:

  • Hours as part of student/school club activities
  • Donating funds
  • Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
  • Religious instruction
  • Conducting worship service
  • Proselytizing
  • Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
  • Serving only family members
  • Unpaid internships

Award Criteria

In addition to fulfilling the award criteria provided by the Presidential Service Award organization (please see below), EVHS PTSA requires the following:

  • Student must be a PTSA member during the 12-month service period (Note: Students who are unable to make the membership payment, please contact EVHS PTSA at evhsptsa@gmail.com with your full name, email address and student grade. We will register you as a member and send you a confirmation email.)
  • Student is recommended to have at least 5 volunteer hours benefiting the school (PTSA events/activities and/or Learning Lounge tutors).
  • For any volunteer opportunity, only 5 volunteer hours can be allocated to marketing, logistics and meetings. 

Following is the award criteria from the Presidential Service Award organization:

Age category is determined by the age a volunteer is for at least 7 months out of a designated 12-month award period.

Award Submissions

PTSA will accept award applications for the August 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024 period beginning August 15, 2024 with a deadline of September 11, 2024. Applications will not be reviewed prior to August 15th. Please send submissions to psa.evhs@gmail.com. Submission email must include:

  • Letter or signed volunteer roster from each volunteer organization documenting: 1) student name; 2) volunteer dates (must be within the date range specified above); 3) number of volunteer hours for volunteer dates within allowed date range.
  • Student’s birth date
